In demonstrating its ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation, PortXchange will sponsor the prestigious ESPO Award 2024. As one of only three sponsors for this year’s event, PortXchange is keen to help the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) recognize and celebrate excellence in port projects focused on the circular economy.

The ESPO Award, now in its 16th year, highlights port strategies that foster circular economy practices benefiting cities and surrounding communities. This year’s theme aligns perfectly with PortXchange’s mission to drive environmental sustainability through data-driven insights and technological advancements.

The In-Port Vessel Emissions Report

In addition to our sponsorship, PortXchange is excited to offer the ESPO Award 2024 winner a complimentary In-Port Vessel Emissions Report. This comprehensive report will provide the winning port with critical data to assess its environmental impact, comply with Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) regulations, and develop effective emission reduction strategies. This initiative underscores our dedication to empowering ports with the tools necessary to enhance their sustainability and reputation.

Sjoerd de Jager, CEO of PortXchange, remarked on the partnership: “We are delighted to sponsor the ESPO Award 2024, an event that exemplifies the port industry’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. By providing the In-Port Vessel Emissions Report, we aim to equip the winning port with actionable insights to support their journey towards a greener future.”

The ESPO Award 2024 is open for submissions, inviting ports to showcase their circular economy projects and strategies. The deadline for project submissions is 5 July 2024, with the award ceremony set to take place on 6 November 2024 at Albert Hall, Brussels.

Stefana Sopco, Marketing manager of PortXchange, shared her insights on the significance and value of the conference this year: “Attending the ESPO Conference in Paris was an enlightening experience that provided invaluable insights and networking opportunities. The event underscored the detrimental role of ports in the energy transition and decarbonization efforts, highlighting both the significant financial commitments required and the innovative strategies needed to meet our net zero targets. PortXchange [B-Corp] is proud to be one of the ESPO Awards Sponsors this year, reinforcing our commitment to supporting ports in their journey towards sustainability. Leading by example remains our guiding principle as we strive to be a trusted partner in these crucial efforts.”

PortXchange is also pleased to confirm that they have been selected to be a speaker at next year’s ESPO conference in Thessaloniki, where we will be able to further contribute to the dialogue on sustainable port management and circular economy practices.
